High-strength gas tank mounting straps designed to securely fasten the fuel tank to the chassis of classic GM muscle cars. Direct-fit for 1976-1981 Camaro and Firebird models and 1976-1979 Nova, these straps restore factory mounting integrity, prevent tank sagging and vibration, and protect against corrosion. Made to reproduce original contours and mounting points, they provide dependable, long-lasting support for restoration projects or routine maintenance with easy bolt-up installation.
Features:
  • Fitment: Direct-fit for 1976-1981 Camaro and Firebird, and 1976-1979 Nova.
  • Heavy-duty steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long-term durability.
  • Formed to OEM contours for accurate alignment and secure tank support.
  • Designed to use factory mounting points and existing hardware for a straightforward replacement.
  • Prevents fuel tank movement, reduces vibration, and restores factory safety and appearance.
  • Ideal for restorations and maintenance to ensure reliable fuel system mounting.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 60-90 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack
  • Jack stands
  • Block of wood
  • Ratchet and socket set
  • Combination wrenches
  • Penetrating oil
  • Torque wrench (recommended)
  • Safety glasses
  • Work gloves
  • Drain pan (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Work in a well-ventilated area and disconnect the negative battery cable to reduce electrical risk.
  2. Relieve any residual fuel pressure per vehicle service guidance and, if practical, reduce tank fuel level to minimize weight and fumes.
  3. Raise the vehicle securely on jack stands and place a floor jack with a block of wood under the fuel tank to support it.
  4. Apply penetrating oil to strap mounting bolts and nuts; allow time to soak if corroded.
  5. Loosen and remove the strap mounting bolts while continually supporting the tank with the floor jack; lower the tank slightly if needed to access straps—do not fully drop the tank unless necessary.
  6. Remove the old straps and inspect tank mounting flanges, rubber isolators, and hardware; replace isolators or damaged hardware as needed.
  7. Position the new mounting straps around the tank, aligning them to the factory mounting points and any existing isolators.
  8. Install bolts and hand-tighten to hold the straps in place, then raise the jack slightly to seat the tank and straps into final position.
  9. Tighten mounting hardware to secure the straps. If available, torque to factory specification; otherwise tighten until secure and recheck after a short test drive.
  10. Lower the vehicle, reconnect the battery, check for any fuel line disturbance or leaks, and perform a short test drive to confirm secure mounting.
