A 16-piece exhaust manifold bolt set engineered for 1968–1978 Chevrolet Big Block V8 engines. Designed to replace worn or corroded original hardware, these bolts secure the exhaust manifolds to the cylinder heads to maintain a tight seal, reduce leaks and vibration, and restore factory fitment. Built for durability and ease of installation, this kit is ideal for restoration projects and routine maintenance where reliable, long-lasting fastening is required.
Features:
  • Fitment: 1968–1978 Chevrolet Big Block V8 engines (direct replacement hardware).
  • Complete 16-piece set replaces original exhaust manifold bolts on both banks.
  • High-strength steel construction for improved durability and reliability.
  • Corrosion-resistant finish helps resist rust and extends service life.
  • Secures manifolds to cylinder heads to prevent exhaust leaks and reduce vibration.
  • Direct-fit design simplifies restoration and routine maintenance.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-60 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Extensions and swivel/joint (optional)
  • Penetrating oil (for removing old bolts)
  • Wire brush or thread chaser
  • Gasket scraper
  • Anti-seize compound
  • Safety gloves and eye protection
Instructions:
  1. Allow engine and exhaust to cool completely. Apply penetrating oil to old bolts if removing existing hardware.
  2. Remove old bolts from the exhaust manifolds. Keep note of any washers or stamped hardware and discard if heavily corroded.
  3. Carefully remove and inspect exhaust manifold gaskets and mating surfaces. Clean gasket surfaces with a scraper and wire brush; ensure all old gasket material is removed.
  4. Clean or chase the bolt holes/threads in the cylinder head to remove corrosion and ensure smooth installation.
  5. Apply a light coating of anti-seize compound to the bolt threads to aid future removal and prevent galling.
  6. Hand-start each new bolt to ensure proper alignment, then snug all bolts in a crisscross pattern to evenly seat the manifold.
  7. Using a torque wrench, tighten bolts to the vehicle manufacturer’s specified torque in the recommended sequence (refer to factory service manual for exact values).
  8. Re-check all fasteners after the engine reaches operating temperature following the first heat cycle, and retorque if necessary.
