Instructions:
- Park on level ground and engage the parking brake; open the hood and securely support it with a prop rod or hood support stand to prevent accidental closing.
- If replacing old hinges, spray mounting bolts with penetrating oil and allow to soak to ease removal.
- With the hood supported, locate and remove the bolts attaching the hood to the old hinge assemblies (retain hardware if reusing).
- Remove the hinge-to-fender/inner-fender mounting bolts and remove the old hinge assemblies. Be mindful of spring tension — if springs are under load, keep the hood supported at all times.
- Position the new hinge assemblies (springs pre-installed) and loosely install the hinge-to-fender mounting bolts to hold them in place.
- Reattach the hood to the new hinge assemblies, installing and tightening the hood-to-hinge bolts hand-tight initially to allow adjustment.
- Carefully lower the hood into the closed position and check alignment and panel gaps. Adjust hinge position by loosening mounting bolts slightly and shifting hinge until desired alignment is achieved.
- Once aligned, tighten all hinge and hood mounting bolts to factory torque specifications.
- Open and close the hood several times to confirm smooth operation and proper spring tension. Re-check bolt tightness after initial cycles and make minor adjustments as needed.
- Dispose of or store old parts and verify no tools or debris remain in the engine bay.
