Designed to replace worn or corroded senders, this unit restores accurate fuel gauge readings while providing a 3/8" return line for return-style fuel systems or EFI conversions. Constructed with corrosion-resistant components and a precision float arm, it delivers reliable, long-lasting performance and straightforward electrical and fuel-line connections for easier installation during restorations or repairs.
Features:
  • Fits 1976–1981 Camaro and Firebird, and 1973–1979 Nova.
  • Includes a 3/8" return line connection for return-style fuel systems and EFI conversions.
  • Corrosion-resistant construction for improved durability and long service life.
  • Precision float arm provides accurate fuel level readings and gauge reliability.
  • Direct-fit replacement that uses factory mounting pattern and standard electrical terminals.
  • Ideal for restorations and replacements to restore fuel gauge accuracy and system functionality.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 2/5
  • Estimated time: 30-90 minutes
Suggested Tools:
  • Socket set and ratchet
  • Screwdrivers (flat and Phillips)
  • Pliers
  • Fuel line pliers or 3/8" line wrench
  • Jack and jack stands or ramps
  • Drain pan or fuel-safe container
  • Shop rags and gloves
  • Torque wrench (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Work in a well-ventilated area and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent sparks.
  2. Relieve fuel system pressure per vehicle procedure and, if necessary, reduce fuel level in tank by siphoning into an approved container.
  3. Raise and securely support the vehicle with jack stands or use ramps so you can access the fuel tank.
  4. If applicable, remove any access panels in the trunk or under the rear seat. Otherwise, support and carefully lower the fuel tank enough to access the sending unit.
  5. Place a drain pan under fuel lines and disconnect fuel hoses and electrical connectors from the sending unit. Cap or plug lines to minimize spills.
  6. Loosen and remove the retaining ring or bolts that secure the old sending unit. Carefully lift the old unit out to avoid damaging the float or tank sealing surface.
  7. Clean the sender mounting surface and inspect the tank for debris or corrosion. Replace the mounting gasket/seal if included or whenever the old seal is damaged.
  8. Install the new sending unit into the tank, ensuring the float arm is positioned correctly and the gasket is seated evenly. Secure with the retaining ring or bolts to the factory torque specification if available.
  9. Route and connect the 3/8" return line to the vehicle's return plumbing, using proper clamps or fittings to prevent leaks. Reconnect fuel supply and vent lines and attach electrical connections.
  10. Carefully raise and secure the tank back into position (if removed) and reinstall any access panels or interior trim.
  11. Reconnect the negative battery cable, turn the ignition to the ON position to prime the fuel system, and check for leaks at all fittings and connections.
  12. Start the engine and verify correct gauge operation. Re-check fittings after a short test drive and retorque fasteners if necessary.
