This front end suspension rebuild kit is designed to replace worn suspension parts on 1968–1974 Nova, Ventura, Apollo and Omega models. The kit restores precise steering response, removes play in the steering linkage, and improves vehicle tracking and safety. Built from durable, corrosion-resistant materials with precision-machined ball joints and threaded connections, the components deliver reliable long-term performance and straightforward installation for restoration or routine maintenance projects.
Features:
  • Fits 1968–1974 Chevrolet Nova, Pontiac Ventura/Apollo, and Oldsmobile Omega front end steering assemblies.
  • Includes matching inner and outer tie rod ends engineered for OE-style fit and steering geometry restoration.
  • High-strength steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
  • Precision-machined ball joints reduce play and vibration for improved steering feel and road holding.
  • Greasable / pre-lubricated options available to simplify maintenance and extend component life.
  • Ideal for classic car restorations, routine suspension refreshes, and replacing worn steering components.
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 2–3 hours
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Lug wrench
  • Socket and wrench set (metric & SAE)
  • Torque wrench
  • Tie rod separator / pickle fork or ball joint separator
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Pliers
  • Hammer
  • Penetrating oil
  • Measuring tape or caliper
  • Grease gun (if fittings provided)
Instructions:
  1. Park on a level surface, engage parking brake, loosen lug nuts on the front wheels.
  2. Raise the vehicle with the floor jack and support securely on jack stands; remove the front wheels.
  3. Inspect the existing tie rod ends and steering linkage; apply penetrating oil to fasteners and cotter pins as needed.
  4. Mark or measure the thread exposure and overall length of the outer tie rods to preserve steering alignment during swap.
  5. Loosen the inner tie rod jam nut and back it off; remove cotter pins and castle nuts from outer tie rod studs.
  6. Use a tie rod separator or pickle fork to separate the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle; unthread the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod or center link.
  7. Remove the inner tie rod by unthreading from the steering rack or center link per vehicle service procedure.
  8. Install the new inner tie rod, hand-tightening to the same thread depth measured earlier; torque to manufacturer spec if available.
  9. Thread the new outer tie rod onto the inner tie rod to match the original length or measured setting; install the outer stud into the steering knuckle and secure with the provided nut and cotter pin, torquing to spec.
  10. Tighten the inner tie rod jam nut to lock the assembly in place; if greasable fittings are present, apply grease until joint is properly lubricated.
  11. Reinstall wheels, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to spec.
  12. Start with a careful low-speed test drive to check steering feel and play, then have a professional wheel alignment performed to ensure correct toe and handling.
