Inner tie rod end (right/left hand) for 2000–2009 Honda S2000. This precision-machined steering component connects the steering rack to the outer tie rod, transmitting steering input while maintaining alignment under load. Designed to restore steering responsiveness, reduce play, and improve vehicle safety, it offers durable materials and a sealed joint to resist contaminants and extend service life. Ideal for maintenance, restoration, or replacement of worn steering components to return steering feel and handling to factory-like performance.
Features:
- Fits 2000-2009 Honda S2000 (AP1 & AP2) — inner tie rod end, left and right hand applications
- High-strength steel construction with heat-treated ball stud for long service life
- Sealed ball joint and corrosion-resistant finish to protect against dirt and moisture
- Restores steering precision and reduces wheel vibration and steering play
- Direct-fit replacement designed for OE geometry — no modifications required
- Easy installation with commonly available tools; suitable for DIY or professional service
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes (both sides)
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and chock rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts, raise vehicle with jack, and secure on jack stands. Remove front wheels.
- Locate the inner tie rod connected to the steering rack and outer tie rod. Apply penetrating oil to fasteners if corroded.
- Remove the cotter pin and castle nut (if present) from the outer tie rod end, then disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. Count or mark the number of turns to remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod to preserve alignment.
- Use an inner tie rod removal tool or appropriate wrench to loosen and remove the inner tie rod from the steering rack output shaft. Protect the rack threads and steering rack sealing surface.
- Clean the rack output threads and sealing area. Inspect the rack boot and seals; replace if damaged.
- Screw the new inner tie rod onto the rack by hand to the manufacturer-specified engagement depth, then tighten to factory torque specifications using a torque wrench. If no spec is available, tighten securely and verify no binding.
- Reinstall the outer tie rod onto the new inner tie rod using the same number of turns as marked earlier (or have an alignment performed), then torque the jam nut and outer tie rod to spec and secure any cotter pins.
- Reinstall wheels, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Have a professional wheel alignment performed after installation to ensure proper steering geometry and tire wear.
