Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake and loosen lug nuts slightly with the wheel on the ground.
- Raise the vehicle and support securely on jack stands; remove the wheel and set aside.
- Remove brake drum or rotor and any dust cap, rotor retaining clip or hub components as needed to access the back of the hub.
- Apply penetrating oil to old studs if needed. Remove damaged studs by driving them out from the back of the hub using a punch and hammer or by pressing them out with a hydraulic press.
- Thoroughly clean the hub bores with a wire brush and inspect for ovaling or damage; replace the hub if holes are damaged.
- Insert a new stud from the back of the hub into the bore until the stud head seats flush against the hub face.
- Install a washer or installation sleeve over the stud and thread a lug nut onto the stud. Use the press or tighten the lug nut to pull the stud fully into place; for the nut method, tighten progressively until the stud head bottoms out.
- Repeat installation for each stud, ensuring they are fully seated and straight.
- Reassemble brake components, reinstall the wheel, and torque the lug nuts to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification.
- Lower the vehicle, re-torque lug nuts after 25-50 miles, and check for proper fit and wheel alignment.
