Instructions:
- Work in a well-ventilated area and disconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Relieve fuel system pressure following the vehicle’s service manual procedures.
- Drain remaining fuel into an approved, fuel-safe container (or siphon) to minimize weight and spills.
- Raise and securely support the vehicle with jack stands or use a lift.
- Support the fuel tank with a jack or transmission jack (use wood block to protect tank).
- Disconnect fuel supply and return lines, vent lines, and electrical connections to the sending unit; label or mark lines for reassembly.
- Remove the tank mounting straps or bolts and any heat shields or crossmembers that obstruct removal.
- Carefully lower the tank and remove it from under the vehicle; transfer the sending unit or inspect/replace the sending unit sealing gasket as needed.
- Position the replacement tank and raise it into place, aligning the mounting points and sending unit/pickup openings.
- Reconnect fuel lines, vent lines, and electrical connectors, replacing any worn hoses, clamps, or seals.
- Secure the tank with mounting straps/bolts and torque to factory specifications; reinstall any removed heat shields or crossmembers.
- Lower the vehicle, refill the tank with a small amount of fuel, reconnect the battery, start the engine and check for leaks; then fill the tank and re-check all fittings.
